I'd been moving out for the last few weeks, but now that I've settled in a bit, here's the next in my lineup, Wonder Woman.
Her story is basically the same: On a magically hidden island, a race of women were raised to defend the world from dark magic. The queen, longing for a child, made one out of clay. The gods blessed the clay child and made her human, and she was named Megumi.
Trained in the magical arts on the hidden island, Megumi became and adept warrior. When the forces of darkness eventually emerged to threaten the world, Megumi was chosen through trial by combat to defend the earth as Wonder Woman!
- Design-wise, I took a lot of reference from Sailor Moon and other "magical girl"-type manga/anime. Sailor Mars was a definite influence. I kept some of the major visuals of the American WW, like the stars, boots, tiara, and WW-symbol across the bust, and added the Sailor Moon-esque flair. However, I decided against giving her a wand/staff like a Sailor Scout, and kept her lasso.
- "Megumi" is a female Japanese name meaning "blessing." It was the original name I had used for the original Manga DC, and it still fit pretty well, since she's a blessing to the queen from the gods.
