MMPR Green Ranger: Movie Helmet Concept

Published:
10.8K Views

Description

A photoshop mockup of what I'd do for a movie-style Green Ranger helmet, done over a WIP photo of my Eric0101 helmet.

The fin is now silver, and the shape resembles the fin on the Dragonzord, including the dark green area with the gold designs. Likewise, the chin area of the helmet and under the eyes are a darker shade of green for some contrasting elements. Lastly, I've exaggerated the shapes of the helmet, like the eyebrows into spikes that sweep up, the chin wedge shape becoming more pointed, and the line above the mouth plate continuing on to the bottom edge, separating the chin area from the top half of the helmet.

Been seeing a few posts online over the years accusing me of stealing the Movie Green idea from Taller Azlo, a helmet maker.

TALLER AZLO DID NOT COME UP WITH THIS DESIGN. I took a photo of my own regular MMPR Green helmet in 2013 as I was working on it, and photoshopped it into the "Movie Green" deviation seen above.

The original photo I took:

MMPRGreen 2013

This original photo also shows up in the Rangerboard forums here, specifically my own cosplay build thread: https://www.rangerboard.com/index.php?threads/159263/post-4314840

Also, note the date of this deviation as 2013, well before Taller's first movie-Green helmet.

My guess is someone found my Movie Green design here on dA, passed it along to him, and he made it into a physical helmet. He's adjusted it over the years to distance it from my design, but let it be known that he did NOT make up the unique aspects of this design:

- The winged eyebrows

- Dragonzord fin design on the sides of the elongated center fin

- Edge coming down from the top of the mouthplate to the bottom of the cheek

- Angled edges on the chin
