Archie: Team Aqua's Leader!

"I am Team Aqua's Archie. Tell me, why do you meddle in the noble affairs ofTeam Aqua? Pokémon, people, all life depends on the sea. So, Team Aqua is dedicated to the expansion of the sea. Don't you agree? What we are doing is a magnificent undertaking. Ah, fine... You're still too young. It can't be helped that you do not understand our ideals. But, if you ever oppose us again, there will be consequences! Heed my warning! Farewell!"

This past weekend and in honor of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, I had the pleasure of joining 's massive Team Aqua/Team Magma group at the NorCal Fall/Winter Cosplay Gathering as Archie, Team Aqua's leader! I had actually planned another cosplay for the gathering, but at the beginning of November the original Archie dropped out, so I joined to fill in so that the leader of Team Aqua was still a part of the group. With only two weeks to make it, I was really happy when it all came together!

- Bandana was a quarter of some nice watery textured blue fabric, with fabric paint for the Aqua  symbol.
- Suit is a blue Morphsuit that I got at Diddams. Raven Roth of Unicorn Sushi (www.unicornsushiclothing.com) was nice enough to help me sew in white insets.
- Shoes are just some white flats. 
- Teal on the knees/shins/shoes is spandex over craft foam.
- Belt is metal chain from Home Depot, with craft foam U shapes.
- Skirt is upholstery leather+paint on the outside, lines with black satin on the inside.
- Necklace is more chain, with a wooden anchor shape from Joann painted gold, and a small blue marble.
- Flag is blue polyester satin, with acrylic for the symbol. I did color guard in high school and college, so I sewed this as a functioning, albeit slightly heavy, guard flag.
- Aqua Ball is a DIY plastic ornament, painted on the sinside with white spray paint, glued together, and then with more acrylic paint on the outside for the band, button, and Aqua symbol.
- The icing on the cake is the beard, as I can't actually grow one, lol. Started as the back of a Jett wig from Arda. I cut the bottom and sides off, giving me a big U shape. Pinning it to a wig head, I styled the hair with spray, and used fabric glue and more wefts from the rest of the wig to give it a false hairline on the inside edge. I added the two spikes that go around the mouth the same way. Then, trimmed the outer edge to the correct shape.  Attached to my face with spirit gum.
